Dennis came into my life when my brother’s cat, Lilo, had kittens. I was meant to have the ginger cat, but my brother kept him, and I ended up with the black cat instead. I’ll be forever grateful it worked out that way. I already had Snickers, another black cat, so I thought about naming him Fudge to match the chocolate theme. But as his cheeky, loving personality came out, “Dennis the Menace” just fit perfectly.

Dennis and Snickers were my world. They saw me through COVID, heartbreak, and the darkest moments of my life. Every night they curled up in bed with me, making me feel safe and loved. Dennis was unlike any cat I’ve ever known—spicy, playful, and endlessly affectionate.

On June 12th, my world shattered when Dennis was hit by a car. He fought through the night, and I prayed we could save him. But the next day, the vets told me there was nothing they could do. Letting him go was the hardest decision I’ve ever made, but I couldn’t let him suffer. 

Dennis was only two years old—taken from me far too soon. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him. He’ll always be my Den-Den, my boy, my heart. Until we meet again, I’ll carry him with me forever.
